장건율은 주로 그리는 대상은 일상에서 쉽게 접할 수 있지만 무심코 지나칠 수도 있는 꽃이나 식물 등 자연에서 선과 색을 추출하여 화면을 구성하여 작가만의 시선으로 바라본 자연을 담는다.

꽃과 식물의 모양을 빌려와 화면을 구성하는 작업은 걷거나 자전거를 타고 다니며 마주하는, 즉 작가의 행동반경에서 쉽게 만날 수 있는 친숙한 자연물이다.

특정한 분류에 시선을 가두지 않고 작가의 마음에 머무는 것을 적극적으로 해석한 그의 작업은 어디선가 본 듯한 모양과 색들, 비정형의 형태와 구성을 보여주고, 색을 섞지 않은 원색을 사용해 굉장히 강렬한 인상을 준다.

단순한 형태로 추상적이라고 인식될 수 있는 화면 속 자연은 작가가 눈앞의 풍경을 경험한 그곳, 그 시간, 자연 앞에 마주 선 자신의 존재를 이해하고 마음 속에 자연을 담아두는 방식이 쌓이고 쌓여 표출된 장건율만의 자연의 모습이라고 할 수 있다.

장건율은 창원대 미술학과를 졸업하고 경남도립미술관 N아티스트전(2016), 창원조각비엔날레(2018) 등 국내외 다수 단체전에 참여했다.

Jang Geon-yul mainly draws lines and colors from nature, such as flowers and plants, which can be easily encountered in everyday life but may be overlooked by capturing nature as seen from his personal perspective.

The shapes of flowers and plants that make up the composition on a canvas are familiar natural objects that the artist can easily run into while walking or riding a bicycle.

His work, which actively interprets what stays in his mind without focusing on a specific classification, shows shapes and colors that seem to have been seen somewhere, atypical forms and compositions, and uses unmixed primary colors to create a very strong impression.

The nature on a canvas, which can be perceived as abstract in its simple form, can be said to be the accumulation and expression of his own form of nature in which the place and the time where he experienced the scenery, and the way he understood his existence in front of nature and held nature in his mind.

Jang graduated from the Department of Fine Arts at Changwon National University and participated in many group exhibitions at home and abroad, including the N Artist Exhibition at the Gyeongnam Museum of Art (2016) and the Changwon Sculpture Biennale (2018).
