나빈은 일상과 여행 중 쉼을 가질 때 바라보는 대상을 소재로 현장에 머물며 경험한 감각을 바탕으로 색과 구도를 재구성해 고유의 화면을 만들어 왔다.

주로 유화를 사용하여 투명도가 높은 물감을 얇게 덧칠하는 글레이징 기법을 통해 화면에 깊이감을 더하고 노란색을 띄는 빛을 통해 환영(illusion)을 효과적으로 표현한 정물-꽃과 과일은 현실과 이상 사이 쉼의 공간을 평면 속에 생생하게 구현한다.

아침저녁으로 달라지는 꽃의 모양과 색을 관찰하며 숭고함을 느끼는 나빈은 물감을 쌓아 올리는 긴 시간 동안 꽃이라는 형식을 빌려 작가의 자아를 담는다. 꽃의 초상은 자두 등의 일상의 대상으로 연결되고 제 본질을 밖으로 드러내 작가의 초상이 되는 경험을 선사한다.

이화여대와 한국예술종합학교에서 수학한 나빈은 개인전 <Table Layer>(갤러리 맺음, 2013)을 시작으로 가나아트스페이스, 서울시립미술관 남서울관, 동대문 디자인 플라자 등에서 다수의 개인전과 단체전에 참여했으며, 작품은 국립현대미술관 미술은행 등에 소장되어 있다.

Navin has been creating unique paintings by reconstructing colors and compositions based on the sensations she encounters in the field, using objects she observes everyday or while taking a travel break.

Still life-flowers and fruits created by glazing technique, which adds depth to the canvas and effectively expresses illusion through yellow light by mainly using oil painting and thin layers of highly transparent paint, vividly realizes the space of rest between reality and ideals in a flat surface.

The artist, who experiences a sense of sublime while observing the shapes and colors of flowers that change by morning and evening, borrows the form of flowers to capture her ego during the long hours of layering paint. Portraits of flowers are connected to everyday objects such as plums and reveal their essence, offering the viewers to see a portrait of the artist in it as well.

Navin, who studied at Ewha Womans University and Korea National University of Arts, participated in numerous solo and group exhibition starting from the solo exhibition <Table Layer> (Gallery closing, 2013), to Gana Art Space, Namseoul Branch of the Seoul Museum of Art, and Dongdaemun Design Plaza, and was selected as a registered artist for the 2nd archive of Soma Drawing Center.
