알록달록 컬러밴드의 리듬이 음악처럼 색의 선율로 흘러넘쳐 보이는 새로운 감각의 추상화를 선보이고 있는 하태임의 작업은 특유의 화려한 컬러 감각과 반곡선의 선(밴드)이 교차하고 반복되어 중첩되는 화면을 보여준다.

몸을 축으로 쭉 뻗은 팔 끝으로 색실을 뽑아낸 그의 작업은 묽은 물감으로 한 획을 긋고 말린 후 다시 같은 궤적으로 그리는 작업을 수없이 반복하는 작품은 노동집약적이며 색과 반곡의 밴드가 표현하는 공간에 대한 사유의 결과물이다. 강렬한 색채를 캔버스에 쌓아 올린 것이 특징인 작업은 수많은 색 띠가 교차하고 중첩되어 있으나 정제된 색채가 세련된 느낌으로 다가온다.

유학 시절 표현주의 화풍에서 영감을 받아 시작하게 된 추상 작업은, 이방인으로서 소통의 창구로 캔버스에 소통을 형상화한 문자와 부호들을 채우면서 시작되었다. 진정한 소통은 지식이나 언어 문자가 아님을 깨닫고 하태임만의 조형 언어를 바탕으로 독창적인 작품세계를 펼치고 있다.

“색 띠를 중첩해 나가는 행위는 질서와 순리를 거스르지 않는 수행과도 같은 의미다”라고 말하는 작가는 <Un Passage> 시리즈를 통해 형상 없이도 아름다운 만곡(彎曲)의 색채를 소통 ‘통로’로써 색상 하나하나에 고유한 의미나 이야기를 담아 감상자에게 희망과 힐링의 메시지를 전하고 있다.

프랑스 디종 국립미술학교와 파리 국립미술학교를 졸업하고 홍익대 대학원에서 박사학위를 취득하였다. 1995년 개인전을 시작하여 서울, 파리, 베이징, 독일 등 국내외에서 다수의 개인전을 열었고. 200여 회의 단체전에 참여했다. 1999년 모나코 국제 현대 회화전에서 모나코 왕국상을 수상했으며, 최근에는 벤틀리 모터스 코리아, 디비누스와인 등 기업 협업을 통한 에디션 작품을 선보이기도 했다. 서울시립미술관, 국립현대미술관 미술은행, 모나코 현대미술관, 아모레 뮤지엄, 삼성전자 등 국내외 기관, 갤러리, 미술관 등 다양한 곳에서 소장하고 있다.

Ha Taeim's abstract paintings, featured by vibrant color bands flowing like musical melodies, present a canvas where vivid colors and curved lines (bands) intersect, repeat, and overlap.

The process of using her body as an axis, drawing out threads of color from the tips of her fully extended arms, creating a single stroke with diluted paint, allowing it to dry, and then retracing the same trajectory countless times, is labor-intensive and a result of reflection on the space expressed by bands of color and curve. Her work is distinguished by the accumulation of colors on the canvas, where countless color bands intersect and overlap, yet the refined hues deliver a polished and sophisticated impression. Inspired by expressionist styles she came across during her time studying abroad, she began abstract work as a means of communication as a foreigner by filling the canvas with symbols and characters to shape communication itself into a visual form. After realizing that true communication is not rooted in knowledge, language, or text, she has developed her own sculptural language and created a unique and original artistic world.

“The act of layering color bands is like a meditative practice that does not defy order or reason,” says the artist. She delivers messages of hope and healing to viewers through a series <Un Passage> where beautiful curves of color serve as a "channel" for communication, with each hue carrying its own unique meaning or story even without form.

She graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure d'Art de Dijon and the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, later earning a doctoral degree from Hongik University's graduate school. Since her first solo exhibition in 1995, she has held numerous solo shows in Seoul, Paris, Beijing, Germany, and other locations both domestically and internationally while participating in over 200 group exhibitions. She was awarded the Monaco Principality Prize at the Monaco International Contemporary Painting Exhibition in 1999 and ore recently, she has showcased edition works through collaborations with companies such as Bentley Motors Korea and Divinus Wine. Her works are part of collections at various institutions and galleries, including the Seoul Museum of Art, the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Art Bank, the Monaco Museum of Modern Art, the Amore Museum, and Samsung Electronics.
