Kwon Eun-young is known for her distinctive ceramic works, characterized by forms made by rolling and attaching pointed clay elements. Her work achieves a balance between decorative appeal and functionality. Her signature pointed embellishments are inspired by the thorns of plants; she carefully creates and assembles these small elements one by one to form a cohesive cluster. While the motif comes from plant thorns, depending on the viewer, it may also evoke stars in the sky or marine life.
She applies real gold and platinum along with glazes to infuse color, using crystalline glazes that naturally form in the kiln like blooming flowers, creating hues that blend as if the colors themselves are flowing. Beyond ceramics, Kwon is interested in various materials such as metal, glass, and wood, and she collaborates with artists from other fields to create new visual expressions that cannot be achieved through ceramics alone.
