김대신의 풍경화는 눈에 보이는 전경을 그대로 캔버스에 옮긴 작업이 아니다. 그는 풍경의 변화무쌍한 움직임을 포착하여 자연이 보여주는 찰나를 보여준다. 다채로운 형태와 색이 서로 섞이고 퍼지고 중첩해 시시각각 변하는 풍경을 압축적으로 담아낸 작품은 작가가 산에서 경험한 현상을 캔버스로 확장해 시각적인 공감을 자아낸다. <paysage> 시리즈는 작가에게 투영된 오늘의 세계 풍경을 물감을 흩뿌리거나 흘려 겹치고 번지는 효과를 쌓아 여러 단계로 중첩해 만들어 낸 푸른 화면의 낯선 풍경은 풍경 속 조형이 압축된 결과물이라고 할 수 있다.

Dae-Sin Kim’s landscapes do not simply replicate what is visible in the foreground onto the canvas. Instead, he captures the ever-changing movements of the landscape, revealing fleeting moments that nature presents. His works compress the constantly shifting scenery, where diverse forms and colors mix, spread, and overlap, expanding the phenomena he experiences in the mountains onto the canvas and evoking visual empathy. In the <paysage> series, the unfamiliar blue-hued landscapes—created by splattering, pouring, and layering paint in multiple stages—represent the artist’s reflection of the contemporary world. These compositions can be seen as the condensed results of the forms inherent in the landscapes themselves.
