권용래는 2004년부터 스테인리스 스틸 조각을 이용, 회화와 부조를 융합한 작업을 꾸준히 이어오고 있는 작가이다. 빛 자체를 하나의 재료이자 회화 기법으로써 활용하여 독특한 자신만의 작품 언어를 통해 빛을 화면에 머금게 한다. 작가는 수십, 수백개의 스테인리스 스틸 유닛을 해머링 하여 평평한 표면을 구부러뜨리고 안료를 입힌 뒤, 캔버스 위 공간에 고정하고 조명을 비춤으로써 마치 윤슬과도 같은 빛의 물결을 보여준다. <Eternal Flame> 시리즈를 통해 스테인리스 스틸이라는 냉철하고 차가운, 단단한 물질에 다양한 컬러의 빛을 더해 신비로운 오로라 속 작가의 뜨거운 열정 만날 수 있다.

Since 2004, Yoon-Rae Kwon has been consistently working with stainless steel sculptures, integrating painting and relief into a unique artistic practice. He treats light itself as both a material and a painting technique, allowing it to be captured and expressed on the surface of his works. The artist hammers dozens or even hundreds of stainless steel units, bending their flat surfaces and applying pigments, then fixes them onto a canvas and illuminates them. This process creates waves of light reminiscent of glimmering reflections on water. Through his <Eternal Flame> series, Kwon transforms the cold, rigid material of stainless steel with vibrant colors of light, offering a glimpse of the artist’s passionate energy within a mystical, aurora-like glow.
