유나얼은 콜라주 기법과 컴퓨터를 이용한 이미지 재조합을 통해 일상에서 흔하게 볼 수 있는 오브제를 활용하여 작업한다. 신에 대한 믿음과 정신을 근간으로 성경의 내용을 형상화 하는 작업은 직설적인 메시지를 전달하고 다양한 오브제가 조형적으로 뒷받침되어 절대 신 앞의 나약한 인간의 모습을 역설적으로 표현한다. <Fragile Yves 2>(2021)은 아담(Adam)과 이브(Eve)의 이야기 속 가죽 옷(동물을 통한 대신 속죄)과 연결하여 이브 생 로랑(Yves Saint Laurent) 컬렉션의 모델을 드로잉한 작업이다. 오리지널 콜라주 속 오브제를 디지털화 하고 편집하는 과정을 거쳐 평면적 이미지로 제작된 디지털 콜라주 작업은 평면과 물성의 속성에 대해 생각할 거리를 던지며 작품 속 원색의 색체와 유려한 드로잉 선은 오브제와 조형적으로 어우러져 시선을 사로잡는다.
Yoo Naul creates works using collage techniques and computer-based image recomposition, incorporating everyday objects that are easily found in daily life. Rooted in faith and spirituality, his works visualize stories from the Bible, delivering direct messages that are supported compositionally by various objects—paradoxically expressing the fragility of humanity before the absolute divine.
Fragile Yves 2 (2021) is a drawing based on a model from the Yves Saint Laurent collection, conceptually linked to the story of Adam and Eve and the “garments of skin” (a symbol of substitutionary atonement through animals). Through the process of digitizing and editing the original collage elements, the artist creates a digital collage in a flat image format that prompts reflection on the properties of surface and materiality. The vivid primary colors and graceful drawing lines harmonize with the objects in a sculptural way, capturing the viewer’s attention.
